Fear and Power
No matter how he railed against it, or how logic cried for him to stop, the truth was that Ganzario had been touched by the screams. They awoke something deep inside of him; a fear and a hidden strength, something that went back to the day he was born. The unconscious memory of his birth and the sound of his mother’s voice, screaming … A memory which had been buried deep within his subconscious for so long.
He couldn’t place the raw ache or the sudden feeling of exposure that suddenly awoke in him. He felt vulnerable and agitated and he didn’t know why. All he knew was there was something so achingly familiar about that voice and that he didn’t want to hear it suffering anymore.
Slow waves of power began to swell up inside him.

Tales of the Dead
He continued dragging the heavy stretcher south in the hope he would strike a path or road that would take him to the next town or village.
His companion never regained consciousness. Sometimes Ganzario thought he was dead.
He remembered fireside stories from his childhood about misshapen beasts who roamed the countryside collecting corpses. He laughed as he pictured himself dragging a dead man through the wilderness; his laughter had a dangerous edge and he barely stopped himself from weeping.
